... all I want to be in life is a farmer. You worry like hell about selling your products, but at the end of the day, when you look at your harvest, you know you have something. The life is routine, and simple, and relatively free of politics, fear, backstabbing. Every job these days has politics; I long for a simpler world.

I know...I've often had dreams of the life of a kibbutznik, or a gardener, or something like that. Alas, the human politics are inescapable, but to minimize it where you can is to carve out a little bit of peace.

Hey Kim,

Sadly, so much of farming these days (subsidies, tariffs, etc.) IS about politics (and bad economics, but I won't let myself rant) ... but some farmers do manage to keep it simple.
