Project I was working on delivered! (Part A) Now all I have to do is fix the layout they hated for the presentation. Meanwhile, Neil seemed to have liked his job-nibble-phone-interview thingy, and I'm glad, and because I'm in no mood for doing anything vaguely thoughtful anymore, I'm going to take a nap waste my time doing the google image-search meme...

I'm freaking out, so a meme to distract me.

Edit: dude, my friends listen to a lot of the same music I do...

Hey, I'm a "visionary"... according to this memage, anyway. Personal DNA report!

And I've also apparently gone from being INFJ to ENFJ on this thing?

A game -- I'd like to know how the way I describe myself matches up against the way others perceive me. With that in mind: Johari adjective game! (pick 5 words to describe Kim)

I think it's an interesting exercise in word choice and self-knowledge, and I'd love to hear your input. And I'll play on your johari...

Guilt
What is yours?
Explain yourself
Culinary: sushi given the opportunity, I will use it to tank my bank account, and yours too.
Literary: romance novels they're like disney tales for grownups -- happy endings, lasting love -- what else could I ask for?
Audiovisual: showtunes, a la Rent, Avenue Q, Into the Woods... like I need to explain myself. Pah! If you don't sing along, you won't get it...
Musical: boy bands they're eye candy and the music sticks, not 'cause it's any good, but 'cause... 'cause!
Celebrity: drew barrymore have you seen _Ever After_ or _Boys on the Side_ or _The Wedding Singer_...?

It's really not that I don't see enough movies. But when [livejournal.com profile] addienfaemne posted her 25 favorite movies, I got up to 14 and then fizzled out. Couldn't think of any more that I'd really watch over and over and over again without protest...

14 favorite movies for right now )

I've hidden it, yes I have. Tricky, I am, the cleverest little leprechaun this side of Ireland. Not under the usual rainbow - though I've led many a silly human afar and wide, chasing the rainbow's golden-shaded, laughter-rung embrace.

No, no. I've gone and done it with cacao and milk and butter in a bubbling pot that promises warmth for those who sniff it, and have a taste of it amidst their tired days.

Who would ever find it, after so many have touched it, eaten it, and passed it on?

A piece of lasting compassion. A small piece of a dream hidden in a chocolate, guaranteed to bring forth more slippery dreams that this leprechaun can hide...

(What's this all about, crazy homeless person?)

Sensual - You are not particularly shy when it comes to your sexuality. You know what you like and do not feel inhibited.
Liberal - Politics matters to you, and you aren't afraid to share your left-leaning views. You would never be caught voting for a conservative candidate.

I want someone who's "shy"? You must be joking. I want someone who smells nice and can be open-minded, communicative, and sensual.

And I would too vote for a conservative candidate. I'm not really far left at all, actually, if I think about it. I'm a feminist who thinks that women shouldn't have to be in the workplace because in a choice between family and the workplace (there's really no way of getting around this choice, no matter how dressed up it is), I pick family every time. I wouldn't pick an abortion for myself, even if I end up being pro-choice, because I think legislating to cut off people's choices and doctors' decisions is dangerous. I'm in favor of legalizing guns. I think education in the public schools these days should be far more trade-oriented, rather than forcing all students to be on a college track. I'll be back with more controversial opinions :P

My boyfriend got the horses and charging warrior stock. I guess that makes me the annoying singing bard on the back of his horse? :D But perhaps the girls will think I'm cute.

Jo posted this nifty meme, so I thought I'd steal it:

1) Total number of books owned: about 600 or so, judging by the bookshelves. Mostly fantasy; some poetry and cookbooks and young adult fiction, too.

2) The last book I bought:

The Stardancers, by Spider and Jeanne Robinson, at a used bookstore, since it's such a very excellent book.

3) The last book I read:

Girls in Pants, by Ann Brashares. It's a beautiful book, and made me think about when I was going away to college, and how good friends are to each other. Like its prequel, _Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants_, the story is about love and the bravery it takes to really embrace love. The love of friends for each other - that's straightforward enough, although it'll be tested. The love for yourself, to decide that you want to go to Art school over your parents' wishes; the love for your family, when you fear what going away means; those were harder loves. I liked the book a lot, needless to say.

4) Five books that mean a lot to me:

Book that my high school English teacher gave me, on graduating: his book of poems, to "Kimberly, writer in the making"
Book that I loved as a kid: Heroes and Gods of Greek mythology
Book I bonded with Jess over, long ago: Arrows of the Queen, by Mercedes Lackey, and the other 2 in the trilogy.
Books that I've loved lately: Animal Dreams, by Barbara Kingsolver, and Sunshine, by Robin McKinley. (Matt was reading me Sunshine a few days ago, actually)
Book that was somewhat worldshaking: The Cloister Walk, by Kathleen Norris
Book that I cried over recently: Night, by Elie Wiesel

Okay, I cheated.

My Unitarian Jihad Name is: The Sword of Patience.
Get yours.

Swords are so very phallic. I think I like it. Except I'm really not all that patient at all. Particularly if I'm hungry.

list of the top 110 banned books (of all time). bold the ones you've read. italicize the ones you've read part of. underline the ones you specifically want to read (at least some of). read more. convince others to read some.

banned books meme )

... sadly, at the end of that list, I realize that not only am I not all that well read, but that I don't want to be, either :P I mean, I want to read 7 more books on that list. Alas.

I wonder why they didn't ban the Marquis De Sade's work.
