Hey gang,

Man, being in a bummed mood means I have to have happy extra-hummable music my head. What're your hummable happies?

I like upbeat Christmas carols -- Bring a Torch, Jeanette, Isabella, Good King Wenceslas, the Hallelujah chorus...

I don't suppose you happen to have recordings/mp3s of those? I know a little of good king weceslas, but not the others.

Let me look around my room -- I have a very Christmas-y recording of the Handbell Choir of Somewhere-or-Another playing Bring a Torch, Jeanette, Isabella. I also have the Hallelujah chorus somewhere -- I'll try to import it, but the CD is so scratched-up that it may not work...

I don't particularly have hummable-cheerup music--but Birdhouse in Your Soul tends to cheer me up a lot.

Sometimes some of the older, more intense hymns do it as well. I can't go from down to bubbly because that tends to cause nausea. I can, however, go from down and unhappy about it to down, content, and ... hopeful isn't exactly the right word. Neither is optimistic. Both imply a lack of certainty. Perhaps taken care of is the best phrase. It's the kind of confidence that isn't self-confidence. I still can't get all the things done as well as I want to do them--but that's okay.

More centered? It's a rare song that can do that for me. You're lucky :)

I like Birdhouse in Your Soul - good call!

I tend to enjoy songs by Jonathan Coulton, and they're all streamable from his website. Tom Cruise Crazy, Code Monkey, and Skullcrusher Mountain are all particularly catchy.

Yay, glad you enjoyed it. He's great. I've seen him live twice, and it's even better in person. Plus he often seems to tour with other hilarious people, so if you're around next time he's in NY, he generally plays at smallish venues so tickets aren't too pricey.

happy
