Over the weekend, I read Move a Little, Lose a Lot. The central premise is this: we are a sedentary culture. But if you take just one look at people who spend all day on their feet -- who don't do a lot of cardio, or weight lifting, or whatever -- they stay thin[ner]. Why is that? Because if you're on your feet, you're burning a bazillion more calories than you are when you're sitting down.

I thought about that, and considered my sitting versus standing day. Then I resolved to shift my day to standing or even walking more often.

My standard day and why I'd like to do this )

(Incidentally, if you ever try to walk to class... which essentially means walking the width of Manhattan... never pick a super hot day where you forget to bring a bottle of water. I thought I'd die at around the middle of Central Park and someone would have to point at me to be like "This is an example of a healthcare fad weeding out one of the idiots.")
