Apparently not a cat person?
Aug. 28th, 2007 12:23 pmSo yesterday, Disaster befell us, and the cat escaped out the door. We didn't notice this until much later, though, because cats often hide out. When we *did* notice, we freaked out... had she fallen out a window? Was she wandering the streets hurt and alone?
Then we found one (1) note in one of the two elevators, saying "Found lost cat. Grey and white female. Please claim her before Sept 1st, after which time we'll take her to the ASPCA."
Now, I knew when I found the note -- magic markered, in somewhat uncertain handwriting, that it had to have been the next door neighbors who found the cat, and that it was the teenager's handwriting. (Neil was like "nah, she could have wandered off...") I was proven correct this morning, when the morning doorman (who is somewhat more competent than the late night one) told us that the person who wrote the note lived in the apartment next door to us.
I ran home from work early today to grab the cat back from the neighbor... who walks dogs for a living, and whose home, therefore, must have been terrifying for poor Allie. She said, "I didn't know you had cats... all this time, I never saw you with a cat. I rang the other doorbells."
Sigh. What, did we not look like cat people? Why wouldn't you ring the one doorbell right next to yours? Those neighbors are SO weird.
