I've been hesitant to post lately; for the most part, I feel like what I have to say is either banal, massage/medicine-specific, or something else that's almost always better said to myself.

But here's something nice: the weather was perfect and calm yesterday, and I'm happy about it. I left the camera behind, happily pointing out things out to Neil when I saw something beautiful. (With the camera in hand, I bring in an element of self-criticism that's misplaced: the day is beautiful whether or not I capture it from the right angle, with the right camera settings, and I am good and surviving whether or not anyone else can see what I do. Whether or not anyone even loves what I do.) We cooked up a warm potato salad with a vinagrette of brown sugar, cider vinegar, bacon, and sauteed onions. We had lovely rosemary-juicy pork chops.

I get to see David today, which is a high note despite Neil's being gone at a conference for the next two days.

In massage therapy and in life, it's important to remember how it feels to be happy and centered: body moving, mind receptive, quiet, and with the scent of goodness in the air. Goodness is Fall on a mild, clean day: leafmeal, ready to change, with a home that smells as warm and open as an embrace.

My house smelled like cooking and my beloved yesterday, and I miss him already, but it'll be okay.

I should reiterate that I need more practice with massage; so much of school is about being in your head, as opposed to in your hands. I'd like to massage more and keep in touch with more friends... I miss you.

There is wisdom in leaving the camera behind now and then. Glad you enjoyed the day.

indeed, the camera can be very distracting. i am having a hard time with the bienal--i´ve gone twice and essentially forgotten to look at the art. so far, i´ve made it through the first floor minus a couple of things with lines and about two thirds of the second floor. the photography is apparently on the third floor.
