Classy or gauche?

So I just tipped the guy who delivered my groceries with a one-dollar coin. He chuckled at me, which made me wonder if I'd done something terribly insulting or if I'd just done something really amusing. I mean... a dollar should be a dollar, right?

The stupid things I worry about at the end of a tired day.

I love the concept of the dollar coin. Sadly, they keep making them small (though at least the Sacajawea is golden and not a redux of the Susan B. Anthony mistake), so I prefer half-dollars.
