Golly, I don't even know what some of those mean! What does a dental hygienist do, vs. a dentist? And what is the difference between a Licensed Practical Nurse and a regular Nurse? What's a naturopath? Still, I guess I sort of have my calling up there.

Date: 2007-09-14 05:53 pm (UTC)a dental hygienist does the basic dental stuff like routine cleanings, x-rays, etc...the dentist doesn't usually do that, in my experience. I know my hygienist WAY better than my dentist. A naturopath is a naturopathic docter (ND) as opposed to an MD. not sure about the LPN vs. RN...I think you have more responsibilities/privelages as an LPN.

Date: 2007-09-20 10:46 pm (UTC)LPNs have less training than RNs. it used to be that they could work as nurses and many working class women were LPNs because they could do the program in a year and a half. increasingly, though, they cannot work at hospitals and are doomed to awful jobs like the night shift at a nursing home.
my friend“s mom was an LPN. it was really hard on her family when they changed the law and she lost her good nursing job.
